Lessons of Terror

The project proposes a journey through the grammar of Colombian and Mexican horror films, looking for their roots, legacies and influences. Common places in two countries where their filmmakers received lessons in Hitchcok’s cinema and Italian cinema of suspense and terror. As a result, films were produced with hybrid links and common appropriations that shocked the viewer with shocking images.

Curatorial video project, with Andrés Jurado in México. As curators, we invited the participants to build short audiovisual pieces, using fragments from 14 terror movies: 7 Mexican movies and 7 Colombian movies. The fragments were selected looking for common places of terror cinema, the shout, the howl, blood and myths that led us track folds, refractions and continuities in the history of our cinematography.
